Functions of the Assessors Department:
· Ensures compliance with State Tax Rules
· Property data collection
· Determines property tax assessment
· Maintain property data files
· Sales data collection and analysis
· Maintain plat maps
· Maintain principal residence exemption affidavits
· Maintain property transfer affidavits
· Prepare assessment and tax roll warrants
· Follow the General Property Tax Act 206 of 1893
· Hold Board of Review meetings in March, July and December
· Handle assessment appeals with the Michigan Tax Tribunal
· Handle Tax Abatements (IFT’s)
· Handle property tax exemptions
· Handle special assessment districts
· Handles land division and combination applications
· Handle personal property statements
