PUBLIC NOTICE – NOXIOUS WEEDS ORDINANCE

THIS SHALL SERVE AS ENFORCEMENT NOTICE AS REQUIRED BY THE BLACKMAN CHARTER TOWNSHIP NOXIOUS WEED ORDINANCE 55 SECTION 8.2. IT SHALL BE UNLAWFUL FOR THE AGENT, OWNER OR OCCUPANT OF ANY LAND IN THE TOWNSHIP TO CAUSE, OR PERMIT TO GROW, ON SAID LAND ANY NOXIOUS WEEDS OR GRASS HIGHER THAN 12 INCHES IN HEIGHT. STARTING ON MAY 1st, THROUGH THE GROWING SEASON, THE OWNER, AGENT OR OCCUPANT OF SUCH LAND SHALL BE LIABLE FOR ALL COST INCURRED BY THE TOWNSHIP IN CONNECTION WITH THE CUTTING OR DESTROYING ANY NOXIOUS WEEDS OR GRASS.  THE OWNER, AGENT OR OCCUPANT SHALL BE LIABLE FOR PAYMENT OF AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $50.00 FOR INSPECTIONS.  BILLING WILL BE SENT BY FIRST CLASS MAIL, IF NOT PAID WITHIN 30 DAY. THE FEES WILL BE ADDED TO THE PROPERTY TAX.  THE BLACKMAN CHARTER TOWNSHIP NOXIOUS WEED ORDINANCE IS AVAILABLE FOR VIEWING AT THE TOWNSHIP WEB SITE.

Public Hearing Notice – 2018 Budget

PUBLIC NOTICE

The Blackman Charter Township Board will hold a Public Hearing on the proposed Township budget for fiscal year 2018 at the Township Office, 1990 West Parnall Road, Jackson, on Monday, December 18th at 6:00 p.m.

The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing.  A copy of the proposed budget is available for public inspection at the Township Office during regular business hours.

TAX EXEMPTION ORDINANCE

This Ordinance provides for a service charge in lieu of taxes for a housing project for low income persons and families to be financed with a federally-aided Mortgage Loan pursuant to the provisions of the State Housing Development Authority Act of 1966 (1966 PA 346, as amended; MCL 125.1401, et seq) (the “Act”).

Township Assessor Position Available

Blackman Charter Township is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Township Assessor. Minimum qualifications include a Michigan Level (3) Assessors certification or current STC equivalent, Personal Property Examiner’s certificate, valid Michigan Drivers license, high school diploma, and five (5) years of post-level (3) assessing experience. The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of the principles of appraising and must be familiar with the BS&A Equalizer.Net software. The assessor is responsible for identifying, inventorying and determining true cash value and calculating assessed values in accordance with the State Tax Commission guidelines. The applicant must have knowledge of special act parcels, such as, Downtown Development Authorities, Local Finance Development Authorities, Renaissance Zones, Brownfield’s and Smart Zones.
