Blackman Charter Township is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Township Assessor. Minimum qualifications include a Michigan Level (3) Assessors certification or current STC equivalent, Personal Property Examiner’s certificate, valid Michigan Drivers license, high school diploma, and five (5) years of post-level (3) assessing experience. The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of the principles of appraising and must be familiar with the BS&A Equalizer.Net software. The assessor is responsible for identifying, inventorying and determining true cash value and calculating assessed values in accordance with the State Tax Commission guidelines. The applicant must have knowledge of special act parcels, such as, Downtown Development Authorities, Local Finance Development Authorities, Renaissance Zones, Brownfield’s and Smart Zones.
