Tax Information

Summer Taxes

Summer taxes are sent out by July 1st, and are payable July 1st through September 14th without penalty or interest. Beginning September 15th through September 30th a 1% interest charge will be added. An additional 1% per month will be added on the 1st of each month to the unpaid balance.

Partial Payments

Blackman Charter Township will accept partial payments of taxes.Contact the Treasurer's office anytime to arrange a payment plan.

Deferment of Summer Taxes

The law provides that beginning September 15th, a 1% interest be paid. However, these taxes may be deferred without penalty until February 15th, for any taxpayer who is a senior citizen 65 years of older, totally and permanently disabled, or otherwise eligible whose household income does not exceed $40,000 per year. Applications for the deferment are available at the Treasurer’s Office and must be returned to our office by September 14th.

Winter Taxes

The winter tax bill is sent by December 1st and is payable December 1st through February 14th without penalty or interest. Beginning February 15th a 3% penalty will be added. Beginning March 1st all real taxes must be paid to the Jackson County Treasurers Office located at 120 W. Michigan Avenue. A 4% administration fee and 1% interest per month is applied to the delinquent taxes when paid at the county.

After receiving your bill review it carefully. Please make sure that your Primary Residence exemption percentage is correct. If a correction is needed, please call the assessor so that an adjustment can be made by the July or December Board of Review.

Industrial Facilities Tax Exemption Paments (IFTE)

IFTE tax bill due dates are September 14th and February 14th. These bills are payable only at the Blackman Charter Township Office. Failure to pay these on time could jeopardize your IFTE status.

Tax Receipts

Tax receipts are available via email, fax or mail for taxes paid in the current year or for any previous year. There is no charge to the homeowner for requesting tax receipts.Please call the Treasurer’s Office to research the information.

Sewer Bills

Sewer Payments are due quarterly as stated on your sewer bill. Effective, April 1, 2023, the sewer rate for residential sewer bills will increase to $66 per quarter. Annual payments will be accepted for the amount of $264. There will no longer be an annual discount offered.
NOTE: All delinquent bills not paid by August 31st, will be placed on the winter tax bill.
